Spring Softball
8U Rookies Division
This is our entry level of softball for girls aged 6-8, this division uses coaches to pitch which allows for more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field. Emphasis is on starting to learn the game and rules of softball. All positions will begin to be developed at this level including pitching and catching. Players use an 11” safety ball which is easier for the younger players to handle. The focus of Rookie League is to prepare each player to move on to the Minor Leagues. Our league participates in the North Central Mass Softball Regional League.
- Games are scheduled twice a week starting in late April and ending in mid-June.
- There are two games per week on either Saturday, Monday or Tuesday. Makeups can be held any day of the week.
- Practices will be held one or two days per week starting in April and continuing thru the end of the season. The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season.
- Home games are played at the Spaulding Softball Field.
- Away games will be played in either Ashburnham, Fitchburg, Gardner, Hubbardston, Narragansett or Westminster
- We anticipate having one teams of 8-12 girls.
For 2025, the cost to parents is $100 per player, plus a $50 required fundraising deposit. There is a $25 late charge for any registration submitted after January 31st.
In 2024, the total actual cost to the league per player was $252. The league makes up the gap between what is charged to parents by fundraising, snack shack sales & sponsorships.
10U Minors Division
Recommended for girls aged 9-10. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. This is the first level that’s kids will pitch to other kids. To keep games moving there is a 4-run limit per inning and stealing is only allowed from 2nd to 3rd base. There is no dropped third strike or mercy rule. Players use an 11” ball which is easier for the younger players to handle. Our league participates in the North Central Mass Softball Regional League, which will contain further rule modifications and allows for a post season playoff tournament and an interleague all-star game. All players must attend our annual player evaluations to ensure proper placement.
- There are two to three games per week on either Tuesday at 6, Thursday at 6 or Saturday at 12. Makeups can be held any day of the week. Games start in mid April and end in mid-June.
- Two practices will be held per week starting in early April and continuing thru the end of the season. The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season.
- Home games will be played at the Spaulding Softball Field.
- Away games will primarily be played in either Ayer, Fitchburg or Lunenburg, but can occasionally be played in Ashburnham, Gardner, Hubbardston, Narraganset, Westminster or Winchendon.
- We anticipate having one team of 10-12 girls.

12U Majors Division
The major league division is designed for 11 to 12-year-old girls. Games consist of six innings, have a 5-run per inning limit, allows unlimited stealing and the drop third strike rule is in effect. Players use a 12” ball, and pitching distance is extended to 40’. Our league participates in the North Central Mass Softball Regional League, which will contain further rule modifications and allows for a post season playoff tournament and an interleague all-star game. All players must attend our annual player evaluations to ensure proper placement.
- There are two to three games per week on either Monday at 6, Wednesday at 6 or Saturday at 2. Makeup games can & be held any day of the week. Games start mid April and end in mid-June.
- Two practices will be held per week starting in early April and continuing thru the end of the season. The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate during the season.
- Home games will be played at the Spaulding Softball Field.
- Away games will primarily be played in either Ashburnham, Ayer, Fitchburg, Lunenburg, Shirley or Westminster, but can occasionally be played in Gardner, Narraganset or Winchendon.

16U Juniors Division
The senior league division is designed for girls aged 13 to 16 who are either preparing to play in high school, for those who do not wish to play in high school but want to continue playing in a more relaxed environment, as well as for those high school players who wish to continue playing after their high school season has ended.
Games consist of seven innings, have a 7-run per inning limit, allows unlimited stealing and the drop third strike rule is in effect. Players use a 12” ball, and pitching distance is extended to 43’. Our league participates in the& North Central Mass Softball Regional League, which will contain further rule modifications and allows for a post season playoff tournament and an interleague all-star game. All players must attend our annual player evaluations to ensure proper placement.
- Games are played on Saturday and/or Sunday at either 4pm or 6pm, with double headers typical thru the first week of June. After the first week of June games will likely be scheduled on Fridays as well. Makeup games could be any day of the week.
