Field Information
- Spaulding Field 3 – 5 Eastman St, Townsend, MA 01469.
- There is parking all around the field – do not park in front of the gates.
- There are walled/covered dugouts which should help with the high heat.
- There are multiple fields at the complex, any of them can be used for practices.
- There is no batting cages at this time – please do not hit into any fences.
- There will be a snack shack (food, snacks and drinks) up and running, which is located immediately behind the backstop (Cash & Venmo (@TAYBS) Accepted Only)
- There is VERY LIMITED shade at this field, please plan accordingly.
- There are no bleachers for Field 3, so please bring chairs.
- There is a portable toilet on the Eastman St side next to the entrance gate.
- We currently do not have the capabilities for music/announcements/anthem/etc. at this location.
- Just a note – this complex was just built this season, so we are still working out/in construction on a lot of things – please be understanding.
- Craven Field – 15 New Fitchburg Rd, Townsend, MA 01474
- This field is 3 minutes (driving) away from Spaulding Field – you can use one of the Spaulding Fields for practice if need be (there are no other events going on, so feel free to use any field)
- There is a parking lot, you can park along the sides, and in the middle (but don’t block anyone in). If the lot is full, you can park along the main street outside of the field – however you should not park so close to the entrance that you are blocking the visibility into the main road from those pulling out of the field.
- There is a batting cage at the field along the 1st base line. This can be used whenever there is a game not actively in progress (outside of the pregame 30 minute process). Please do not hit into any fences.
- There is a snack shack (food, snacks and drinks) up and running and is located immediately behind the backstop (Cash & Venmo (@TAYBS) Accepted).
- There are bleachers on both the home and away sides, but limited capacity. We recommend you bring chairs.
- There is a portable toilet on the right side of the lot (as if you were coming in from the road)
- There are walled/covered dugouts which should help with the high heat for players.
- The field is surrounded by trees, so there is some shade (but this means it gets dark early at this field)
- This field is sprayed for mosquitos, so while it looks like it would be horrible, is not really bad at all.
- The dugouts at this field have a front row – there should never be players in this row, players must remain inside the dugouts unless they are on deck. We have had kids get seriously injured by foul balls by being in this row. Umpires are instructed to enforce this rule.
- Make sure the field gates next to the dugout are closed – these gates open the wrong way, and a player can run into them if not careful. Umpires are instructed to enforce this rule.
- On deck batters should be outside the fence next to the dugout, on deck batter should not be within the fenced in area. Umpires are instructed to enforce this rule.
- We do have the capabilities for music/announcements/anthem/etc. at this location and will do our best to utilize them as often as we can.
- Common to both fields
- There is NO smoking or vaping allowing anywhere at the complex – including the entire parking lot and the surrounding wooded areas.
- There are NO dogs allowed anywhere at the complex – including the entire parking lot and the surrounding wooded areas – this is a very strictly enforced rule, so make sure your families understand it. If someone brings a dog, the game will get put on hold until the dog has been removed. We understand people are traveling a distance, so please make sure you tell your families.
- There are no exceptions for emotional support animals or untrained/unlicensed service animals
- The only exceptions are for trained & state licensed service dogs – you must have the license/training proof in hand, and the dog must perform an act for a handicapped person.
- We absolutely hate enforcing this rule, but we have had to put numerous game on hold this year as a result of this, so please please please make sure your families understand it.
Conduct Warning
There is going to be zero tolerance for bad behavior from parents, players or coaches. If someone is showing bad behavior, they will be ejected from the property immediately, and without a warning. We have no issues at all ejecting people, we have before, and we will again – so don’t put us in the position to be the bad guy for someone from your program’s bad behavior.
