Our league is proud to step up each year and be part of the proud long-standing tradition, the Townsend Memorial Day Parade. Memorial Day is the day that we remember those who have been lost serving our great country. While marching in the parade day is completely optional, we do hope that many of our players will join us. It is important that we show our kids what this weekend really means, and to teach them to show respect for those who have and currently have served our great nation. There is no activity more American than playing baseball, and we want to show everyone just how proud and thankful we are.
The parade will be held in two parts:
- Part 1
- We will assemble and meet at 1pm at the VFW (491 Main St)
- Ceremony will begin at 1:30pm, and parade starts immediately following
- We will then take a bus from the Riverside Cemetery over to the Spaulding Memorial School.
- Part 2
- The parade will continue at 2:30pm from Spaulding and make numerous stops before finishing in the town common for the ending ceremony.
There will be a band concert and food available at the common for those who wish to stay around and enjoy the afternoon. Your player should wear their uniform hat and shirt (not pants). Any parents or siblings that wish to march with us are also welcome to, please try to wear a TA shirt/hat/uniform if possible, if not either a black & gold or red/white/blue shirt would be great. We will have flags for all the kids, and we will have some water bottles. It will likely be a hot day, so sunblock and water will be important.
