The major league division is designed for 11 to 12-year-old boys and girls. Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group. Under the Major Division, there are two formats, the Major/60 and Major/70 divisions.  In both formats, games consist of six innings, have a 10-run mercy limit, allow unlimited stealing and both the drop third strike and infield fly rule are in effect.  Our league participates in the Macintosh Baseball League, which will contain further rule modifications and allows for a post season playoff tournament and an interleague all-star game.

Major 60 Division
This division features a 46' pitching distance and 60' base paths.  There is a 5 run per inning limit and no leading is allowed.  All players must attend our annual evaluations to ensure proper placement on a team.

  • There are two to three games per week and they can be held on any day starting on Monday, April 22 and ending by June 15th
  • Practices will be held two days per week starting in April and continuing thru the end of the season.  The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season.
  • Home games will be played at Craven Field and can occasionally be at the Spaulding Baseball Field.
  • Away games will primarily be held in Pepperell, Groton and Shirley, but can also occasionally be in Ayer, Bolton, Harvard, Littleton and Tyngsboro.
  • We anticipate having two teams of 10-12 kids on each team.
