Recommended for ballplayers aged 7-10. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. This is the first level that’s kids will pitch to other kids. To keep games moving there is a 4 run, 3 steals per inning limit. There is no infield fly or dropped third strike rule. There is also a 10-run mercy rule. Our league participates in the Macintosh Baseball League, which will provide for post season playoff play. All players must attend our annual player evaluations to ensure proper placement on a team.
The season typically starts in early April and ends by the third week of June. The kids will practice 1-2 times per week and will also have 1-2 games per week. Practice days, times and fields are at the coach’s discretion. Home games will be held at Spaulding and Craven Fields in Townsend. Teams will play away games primarily in Groton, Pepperell, Shirley and can occasionally play in Ayer, Bolton, Harvard and Littleton.
