This program is for 6-8 year old baseball players. Designed primarily for ballplayers ages 6-8, this division makes uses the coaches to pitch to allow for more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field. Emphasis is on starting to learn the game and rules of baseball. All positions will begin to be developed at this level including pitching and catching. The focus of Rookie League is to prepare each player to move on to kid pitch in the Minor League.
All players should have completed at least 1 year at the T-ball level prior to playing Rookie Ball.
T-Ball, Rookie and Instructional levels start the end of April/Beginning of May end around the second or third week of June.
Rookie League will practice 1-2 times a week and will have 1-2 games per week. Practice days/times/field are at the coaches discretion. Games will be mostly on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Rookie League home games will be held at Spaulding Field and Craven Field in Townsend this season. Rookie teams will also play away games in neighboring towns. Days and Times TBD.
